Dr. Mohammed Nurul Alam is a qualified and experienced accountant and Tax consultant, who is also founder of Alam and Company , a accounting firm providing a quality of  accountancy services both on-site and off-site and business consultancies.  He studied B.A (Honours) and M.A degree in Economics and also earned PhD degree in Accounting and Finance.

He came into the United Kingdom in 1974 and after completing his Accountancy education and articleship in a very renowned chartered accountancy firm. He started his own independent public practice from Manchester and then shifted to Lancashire and continued for 14 years then In December 1989 he shifted to London at Akhtar House, 2 Shepherd’s Bush Road, London, W6 7PJ and still operating the practice from this address.

He has added a lot of professional qualifications like F.C.E.A, F.A.I.A, C.P.F.A ,C.M.A,  A.I.C.P.A, A.C.E.A, C.M.A, M.E.A.A, F.C.M.I, L.L.B, C.S.S, F.A.F.C, F.A.C.B,Qualified member of the banking service in Pakistan etc.

CAREER HISTORY

1974 – Student member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and served a training contract with the following Chartered Accountancy Firms : a) Kay, Edward and Veeders (Manchester); b) E. Malik and Co. (Manchester); c) A Khan and Co ( Manchester) and d) E.C. Brown and Batts (London). During the period served in (a) and (c) above, a four-year article under the student training scheme of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales was completed.Work was carried out as Internal Auditor with (d) for at least four years. Comprehensive and Independent audit experience was gained in clients such as benefit societies, building societies, private and commercial banks, private and public limited companies, professional practices, benevolent organisations, manufacturing industries, retail and wholesale groups, shipping agencies, etc.

 1981 – Commenced self-employment under own practice and still continuing with The practice was formed initially in Blackburn, Lancashire and      since expanded to London. There have been up to three branches of the firm operation until 1989 employing 15 members of staff. There has been variation in the client base of the firm consisting of sole traders, partnerships, manufacturers, professionals, builders, etc. The clients are scattered around the United Kingdom, generating fees in the region of half a million per annum.

He has served as chairman of the Central Council of Institute of Cost and Executive Accountants since 1995 : served as  Chairman of the Disciplinary and Practice Committee, served as Vice Chairman of the British Institute of Management (Now Chartered Management Institute), East Lancashire , Served as the Honorary Treasurer of the Institute for more than 5 years, Senior member of the planning committee, Conducted examinations for the ICEA

In his liesure time , enjoys travelling throughout Europe, North and South America., North Africa, Middle East and Asia.
